Play collection
A collection of shapes built for a thesis show. The collection Play explores the interaction between color and form. It displays my extreme interest in classical design principles. The work presents simple forms as a complex and carefully curated collection when presented together, impacting the importance and place of each individual form.
The colors are striking and vibrate when placed next to one another– how I view them as a secret language and communication as the colors physically play with one another as perceived through the viewers eyes. This language is one that occurs between the neurons before an actual understanding, almost as a subconscious understanding of these interactions. The electric palette posed next to a subtle soft palette informs a sense of curiosity and play between the colors that drives my passion for these interesting or unique color combinations. Through flat vector shapes run through a 3D modeling program, paint and color maps, the forms take on a new dimensionality and depth, creating a garden of forms to elicit this subconscious curiosity and unknown language. All this to form the ‘playful’ collection of shapes presented as a cohesive playground of color and form.
